He is generally high functioning but has some blind spots when it comes to money and social cues, and he can be vulnerable to manipulation as he is by nature a trusting person. He struggles with anxiety and ADHD, and at times, depression, but is wanting to move forward with his life and continue his education at a college level.

That could be learning life skills, socializing, and accompanying on fun outings like meals, walks, movies, or just hanging out. Working out together would be a big plus along with helping him to establish positive daily routines as he is newly independent. He would value your support in keeping on task and staying organized and focused. A vehicle and license would be an asset.

N also has some sensory differences that are impacting his participation to play or self-care routines including feeding, grooming and toileting. He can also have some behavioural challenges (tantrums, hyperactivity, screaming, aggression, property destruction, eloping, repetitive behaviours). N is currently awaiting a diagnostic evaluation for autism/other developmental disability at CHEO.

He also loves tire swings and sledding. On quiet days, he enjoys having someone read his books to him and is a huge fan of Caillou and Dr Seuss books. Our son will mirror what he senses, meaning that, when he trusts someone, his defenses come down and he is a happy-go-lucky boy but, when he is unsure about someone or feels lost, confused or unsafe, he will engage in fight or flight behavior. So, working with him is best suited to someone patient who has experience buddying with someone who has autism and willing to take the time to get to know him.
