About Us

Mission

“respiteservices.com working together to facilitate respite options that empower individuals with differing abilities and their families to lead active and rewarding lives.”

Vision

“Creating Community Connections”

The guiding principles of respiteservices.com are:
  • To develop a comprehensive respite system in Wellington County.
  • To develop and maintain a coherent access process for families of children and adults requiring respite options.
  • To facilitate respite options for individuals that match their identified needs.
  • To work closely with service providers to advocate for appropriate service options to meet the needs identified.

Respite care and support providers give temporary relief from the physical and emotional demands involved in caring for a family member who has a disability. Respite and support create greater opportunities for all family members to live actively and participate in community activities and allows parents/guardians time for themselves.

respiteservices.com provides a platform for support providers to connect with persons with developmental disabilities including autism and/or physical disabilities and help provide meaningful support/respite opportunities through community-based options. Families can connect with support providers after viewing their profiles. Special Services at Home funding and Passport funding can be used to pay for this support. Agencies can access Support Providers to enable individuals to participate in community-based respite opportunities.

respiteservices.com includes agencies funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW) and Compass Community Services agencies are collaborating to develop a more dynamic respite network for both children and adults in Wellington County.
