Respite Options

Admission Criteria : Program to support primary informal caregivers within MHLHIN. Caregivers must demonstrate a need via Caregiver Burnout/Stress Assessment. Care recipient must demonstrate a need for support services via standardized assessment tool (RAI-CHA)
Activities : In home respite throughout MHLHIN
Comments : This is a temporary in home respite option for primary caregivers exhibiting signs of extreme stress/burnout due to caring for high needs/high acuity loved ones. Caregiver Recharge Services staff are skilled in temporarily assuming care giving responsibilities in the home by providing support with IADLs & ADLs including:

* One to one on site supervision
* Bathing
* Feeding
* Toileting
* Dressing
* Preparing meals
* Help with medications & reminders
* Companionship activities
* Safety & Risk monitoring

Caregiver Recharge Services works with informal caregivers to develop the care plan and respite time that best meets their needs.
